Japanese Lures, JDM LuresOften maligned, the Japanese do really know how to make a good lure.
Often with smaller trebles, than American or Australian lures, the
finish and action on some Japanese lures is top notch and the actions
often unparalleled.
Typical JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) brands include;
Lucky Craft, Megabass, Evergreen, Jackall Bros, Eco Gear, Tiemco,
Duo, Zenith, Ima, Yozuri, Gary Yamamoto, Imakatsu, Bassday, Zip Baits
and many, many more!
There is an old saying that plastic is for putting your lures in, but
many an Australian wooden lure angler has been outfished by the plastic
Japanese lure. Not only to they look great, they swim very well and
especially cast well. So if you need the edge on presentation, or to get
that cast right out there, you could do a lot worse than a well made
Japanese Lure. Even the smaller lures can be cast long distance with
ease, perfect for bream and trout.
There are many misconceptions with the Japanese Lure. Japan also has
hand crafted lures as well as special timber lure releases by the major
manufacturers. In a country so obsessed with fish and fishing, it is
little wonder they make such good lures.
