"Back in the day", there were two basic classes of manufactured worms; the mass injected worm, popularized by Nick Creme and the original Creme worm, and the hand poured worm produced by various garage industries in the West.   While the injected worms caught their share of bass, tournament after tournament was being won by those anglers throwing the hand poured worm. 

The hand poured worm is a thing of beauty, with (depending on its color pattern) its blended fades, contrasting bellies, splotches, and flakes.
